This year’s Lacey Spring Fun Fair entry by the Red Nose Brigade included: Jusby, Sprout, Bean Sprout, Lilly, Buzzy, Stormy & Bubble~Trouble.

The alley planned to recreate our award-winning parade entry, “Road Apple Pie or Pie a la Road”, but we kept tweaking it…
For some reason, we had trouble getting together for a group shot. This is Sprout, Jusby & Bubble~Trouble. Not Pictured: Stormy, Buzzy, Lilly, & Bean Sprout!
This is a girl I know from my day job. She admitted that she had been afraid of clowns because she was traumatized by a clown chasing her with a balloon… at the Lacey Spring Fun Fair! However, it was before I joined the RNB, so I know it wasn’t me!
Coincidentally, I knew her mother from my time as an AmeriCorps*VISTA (2001-200).

I just found out that Sprout made the paper on again on National Train Day!

Other activities include face painting and clowns, free stuff for the kids, and entertainment by the Dixieland band, DixieKats and the Olympia Bagpipers.”

“My services have undergone expansions, improvements and tweaks. This includes an additional clown retinue,” began the conversation that led to 2011′s Purim Extraordinaire, a few notches above last year’s “Special Visit” which concluded with 10 pied faces. Although I pied a few additional faces this year, I also brought a few additional clowns along, so the energy was significantly higher.

Got a call one morning from author-educator Steve Eggleston. He had dreamed that he was doing another interview with me and found my number in the nightstand drawer. He called so he could make the dream come real. Technology has advanced enough in two years that he figured he could get the interview sorted in a day instead of several weeks.
He’d iphone it.
So I arranged to meet him after a mercy pieing… went to a party w/o a contract and essentially busked. Total noble cause tho: peace activist.
We met at the parking lot of the Olympian. I wore my Elvis shades. He had six questions typed on the iphone. I chose three and he took some snaps and a little video.

Orion dressed up as a magician to accompany me to the RCR Valentine’s photo shoot.
Rusty Cock Ridge… it’s sort of a salon. It’s more than a studio and a boutique. It’s a always cozy adventure.

Celia is a cross between an Earthy Enya, Joan Baez, & Tina Fey. She dishes up the most delicious concoction of the silly & the sacred. Celia has opened for notable authors: Marianne Williamson, Neal Donald Walsche, & Dr. Masaru Emoto. She has provided live music for Off Broadway’s “Rum & Vodka”, authored “Symbol” (Anthem to the Pentacle Quest) and her “Irish Tales” has been nominated Best Storytelling CD by Just Plain Folks (The Grassroots of Grammies). Celia was born and raised in Wisconsin, currently resides in Santa Fe, NM & is touring with her 8th recording “Carry Me Home”.

Honey the Clown got promoted to chief pier for the night!
Honey has a firm but gentle hand with the pies. She also sings while she pies.
Good thing we finally got the marquee in the shot!
27 signed up but only 26 went through with it.
We appreciated the support and generosity we were shown by the Olympia Film Festival. It was an honor to be included in the street carnivale with the Artesian Rumble Arkestra, Illuminated Procession and fortune telling robot.
And the OFS Octopus, of course!

Sarah Bear had a birthday and housewarming potluck.
I brought pie-in-the-face on behalf of a mysterious benefactor who arrived too late to actually witness it. The battery on the camera flashed low, so I didn’t get pics of all the kids [perhaps a participant will send them].

Imagine her surprise. She had previously been the mysterious benefactor of over a dozen pies-in-the-face to her high school classmates, but oddly never been on the receiving end.

Shortly before we departed Memphis, I volunteered to visit with staff and residents of Grama Mary’s care facility. I brought pies and we did an abbreviated session of Laughter Yoga.

The main improvement to Doc Jusby’s costume is the addition of my COAI patch on the scrubs over the spot that said “Hospital Property”! Thanks Aunt Elaine for making quick work with the sewing machine. My hand stitching would have taken forever.
I still have to add:
I have since upgraded to a salon cape for the piees, I can make changes to the lab coat as well – patches, embroidery, piping, etc. That means an appointment with a seamstress!
