I left the CF card in the computer during Luke’s pie-ing, and it wouldn’t read Natasha’s card, so you’ll have to wait for the action shots.

April 11, 2008The 411 on Party Supplies
April 10, 2008This may be the most extravagant party favor I’ve ever given, and I had toyed with the idea of approaching the manager to get a bulk discount, but I found them on sale today at 2 for $1!
Eighteen Tubs of Whipped Topping
I’ll take them out of the freezer tomorrow around lunchtime.
Please RSVP to reserve your pie-in-the-face and receive your nacho assignment: 888-2729 or jusbytheclown at yahoo dot com
Company Picnics
April 9, 2008For the last company picnic, our management decided that, due to liability issues, we could have alcohol, but only one (1) drink per person.
I was fired for ordering the cups.
j/k
This was sent by Bubble~Trouble. I repost because I am booking company picnics for summer. Though this doesn’t exactly look like my target audience, I would like to track down those cups!
What companies in the South Sound area will be hiring for picnics? You hook me up with a successful gig at a company and I’ll throw in a private appearance for ya.
The medium of Radio 8-Ball, whack!
April 9, 2008I called in to Radio 8-Ball to ask what my theme song for this next year would be. Andras had 8 stacks of disks. I chose #4 for the 4th month, April. I must’ve been looking for something square.
I got an instrumental song, “Sweet Nothing”, the last track of “Nothing Sweet Nothing” by Kym Tuvim.. with a clarinet that reminded me of my old roommate who’s in jail now.

http://www.kymtuvim.com/audio/KYM_TUVIM-Sweet_Nothing-2.m3u (Dial-up)
Divination:
Andras: It was very light and optimistic. Very springy. Because there were no lyrics maybe you’ll become a mime.
Jusby: Maybe I’ll take a vipassana retreat, maybe. Oh, wait. I know. Sweet Nothings are PIES!
My iaudio mp3 player didn’t catch it, again, although I had a fresh battery and plenty of room. Two tech glitches in a day. Is Mercury retrograde again?
[update:
Subject: April Babies, Unite!
Body: Hey Justin,
Thanks so much for contacting me here!
…I hope the song that came through ‘landed’. It sounds like it did. I thought it was really fascinating about the whole ‘sweet nothing’ connection with your clowning work and the pies. But, then the idea of a more meditative year? Hmmm…
I will tell you something about that song that’s not readily apparent. Before it ended up on the record, it was a kind of pre-song for another song called ‘Birdsong’. It was originally written on my old back porch listening to the Starlings who used to live in the 70 year old laurel hedge that’s no longer there. It was a moment, if you know what I mean? But, when we went to record, it became it’s own song, evolving and standing on its own. When I perform live, I can’t help it and I still put them together, but on the record, it’s one of my favorite songs.
… I thought that might possibly be helpful information… ;-)
If you want to come up to Seattle for the cd release, it’s going to be on my birthday! April 20th at the Columbia City Theater. If you do, I hope you’ll say hello!! But, please no sweet nothings, okay? :-)
Take care,
Kym
The medium of television, ack!
April 9, 2008Committed to bringing Jusby to the public via video, I took the opportunity on Monday to go to TCTV with some digital tapes and the remaining blank Lightscribe DVDs.
However, the dubbing station kept spitting them back out. They are DVD+R. It requires only DVD-R or DVD-RW, so I called it a day.
TUESDAY, I brought Orion to Big Lots and purchased a brand new spindle of DVD+Rs only to realize when the machine spit it out that I had goofed again.
We returned and exchanged them. I started transferring the Tumwater 4th of July parade tape from 2006 when the Red Nose Brigade were the Grand Marshals.
All for fun, fun for all!
Orion also made an appearance on his tricycle with flags stuck into the helmet. At the end of the tape I finalized the DVD and looked for a different machine to check it on.
It was blank. I had used the wrong deck!
Their transfer station has two identical DV/ SVHS decks on a cart below the DVD-R. They have a lousy instruction sheet.
We tried the other deck. It made the picture all glitchy. Dan set about cleaning the heads multiple times. It stilled looked below par.
Eventually Orion melted down, and I had to get him home for a nap despite his bleary-eyed protests that, “I’m not tired! I just want to play with my Star Wars Lego, and THEN take a nap!”
He slept for about 3 hours.
His mini-figs were waiting for him.
Simple Fools LVL 2, pt. 3
April 6, 2008After another 4 hours of clown games – not exercises – GAMES… and impro’s. [that's the Queen's English way of saying 'improv']
First trial with the self-timer… I didn’t make it there in 2 seconds!
I handed the camera off to Georgie, Eugene’s son, who had been calling me Pie-guy all morning. What a day!
the 411 on Jusby’s Birthday Plans
April 3, 2008I’m brainstorming for my 39th birthday party. Orion and I talked it over. It’ll have a pinata.
I’m tending AWAY from the fancy dinner party and professional show. Though I’m pretty tempted by the Seattle Moisture Festival and the Indonesian Restaurant in Northgate.
I’m tending TOWARD a nacho potluck and collaborative clown party….
with PIES for everyone! Dress appropriately.

8th Pie
April 1, 2008Feeling a little post-pie depression, I went to the playground with Orion. I got to play with some kids and listen to Radio 8 Ball. I wondered if I would get another call or e-mail for a pie. I wondered if I should take matters into my own hands and go pie Andras during the show, but I’d been driving all day, so I just thought I’d wind down.
Sitting in the Depression
Then it finally occurred to me that I should let Orion deliver the last pie.
And I should receive it.
It is the 8th Pie of April Fool’s 2008
Mmm. Jusby Pied.
Pies Three Through Seven
April 1, 2008Sprout said to give her pregnant sister Amanda a pie. Sprout was at the dentist. Amanda was covering for her at the BIAW. It’s a lovely haunted building

Then I got this clown thanks to Dawn of The Simple Fool School. I’ll get to spend more time with him this weekend at the workshop.

Let’s hope he doesn’t bare a grudge.
Then this kid got such a bargain! He bid $5 for a pie and graciously shared it with two other friends! I never work for so little except for a noble cause!
